How Important to You is your Mobile Phone?

We take our mobile phone pretty much for granted these days, don't we? How many people do you know who haven't got a mobile phone? You can probably count them on the fingers of one hand. For most of us our mobile phone is just about as important as our teeth! We just couldn't get through the day without it. From the moment we wake up many of us live our lives through our mobile, especially if it is a smartphone. We might quickly check the weather forecast, train times,or our emails over breakfast, and it hardly stops from then on.

Think what an inconvenience it would be if you lost your mobile, or had it stolen by a pickpocket. Your daily routine is suddenly and seriously compromised if you can't remember what times your meetings are or keep in touch with friends or business contacts. If though you ask someone whether their phone is insured, many will say "no", or "I'm not sure" thinking that it might be covered by their household insurance. A mobile phone that is on your person when you are away from home may well not be covered by household insurance, and since it is so important, vital even, to you, wouldn't it be a good idea to get it sepatately insured? When you think how easy it is to lose your mobile phone you will apreciate how much better it is to have it insured rather than repeatedly having to pay for replacement yourself.

Finding a good UK mobile phone insurer is not difficult, since, as with other types of insurance you can go online and very quickly compare terms and prices.First of all, when renewing your mobile contract it is often possible, with a little haggling, to get some insurance included in the deal.Mobile network companies may also be more likely to offer cheaper insurance than independent companies, and may be less likely to take the replacement cost of your handset into account, which can be an advantage if you have an expensive, luxury model.By searching through offers from online companies you can find sound policies that enable you to replace a handset within 48 hours, whilst your network will usually replace your SIM card for free.

Costs do vary quite widely though, so it is worth spending some time trawling through. Some companies will offer favourable terms to insure more than one handset and this can be a boon for families with phone-toting children. Some big mobile companies like Carphone Warehouse and the Link have their own affiliated insurance schemes which may be good value.

Most good insurance companies will offer cover for: theft, loss, accidental damage, including water damage, fraudulent use, and breakdown; and cover may be restricted to your country of residence or may be worldwide.

Some well known names to look out for are TalkCover, CUSC Foneguard, Argos, Protectyourbubble, Barclaycard, and JS Insurance, amongst many others.

Insurance is only necessary for the necessities in life, but that includes your mobile phone.
